Halloween Candy Corn Toss: Rules + Scorecard (Free Printable)

Candy corn toss is the Halloween cousin of cornhole — toss candy-corn-colored bean bags at decorated targets, score points, and crown a champion. It’s dead simple to set up, works indoors or out, and it’s one of those rare games that’s genuinely fun for a 5-year-old and a 55-year-old at the same time.

This page is your halloween candy corn toss game printable: the full rules, target setup, scoring system, and a printable scorecard — all written out below, so you can print this page and play tonight.

What You’ll Need

  • 3–5 toss targets: buckets, baskets, or boxes decorated for Halloween (painted pumpkins on the sides work great)
  • Bean bags in candy corn colors — orange, yellow, and white (or any bean bags you have; decorate plain ones with fabric markers)
  • Masking tape for the toss line
  • The scorecard below
  • Small prizes for the winner (optional)

Setting Up Your Targets

  1. Arrange the targets in a row or triangle about 6–8 feet from the toss line for kids, 10–12 feet for teens and adults.
  2. Assign point values by distance: nearest target = 10 points, middle = 20, farthest = 30. If you have five targets, go 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30.
  3. Label each target with its point value on a big, readable card. Trust me — nobody remembers which bucket is worth what after two rounds.
  4. Mark the toss line with tape. Toes behind the line on every throw.

The Official Candy Corn Toss Rules (Printable)

Print this section and post it at the toss line.

Candy Corn Toss — Game Rules

  1. 3 bags per turn. Each player throws 3 bean bags per turn, one at a time, from behind the toss line.
  2. Scoring: each bag that lands and stays in a target scores that target’s point value. A bag that bounces out scores zero — no matter how impressive the bounce was.
  3. Toes behind the line. Any throw released past the toss line doesn’t count. Yes, we check. Yes, kids will test this.
  4. 5 rounds per game. Everyone throws 3 bags per round for 5 rounds. Highest total wins.
  5. Bonus: the candy corn jackpot. Landing all 3 bags in targets in a single round earns a 10-point bonus. Announce it loudly when it happens — it’s a big deal.
  6. Ties: tied players throw one sudden-death round (3 bags each). Still tied? Keep going until someone pulls ahead.
  7. Knocked-over targets: if a throw knocks a target over, the throw scores zero and the target is reset before the next throw. Aim, don’t cannonball.

Fun Variations

Moving jackpot

After each round, move the highest-value target a foot farther back. By round five, that 30-point bucket is practically in the next yard. The groans are half the fun.

Team toss

Pairs take turns — one player throws, the other calls the target. It adds strategy (and blame) to every throw.

Trick-or-treat toss

Fill each target with wrapped candy. Any bag that lands in a target wins the thrower a piece from that target. The game literally pays for itself in candy.

Night toss

Play after dark with glow-in-the-dark bean bags or bags with glow sticks tucked in, and put battery tea lights in the targets. It looks incredible and the photos are unreal.

Tips for a Great Toss Game

  • Weigh down light targets. A bag of rice or a brick in the bottom of each bucket keeps them upright through enthusiastic throws.
  • Shorten the distance for little kids. Half the distance for under-7s keeps them scoring — and scoring keeps them playing.
  • Have a ball retriever. Assign one kid per round as the official bag collector. It keeps the game moving and they love the job title.
  • Wind matters outdoors. Light bean bags drift. On a breezy day, move the game indoors or switch to heavier bags.
