Christmas Minute to Win It Games: 15 Fast Challenges for Parties and Classrooms

Minute to Win It games are the perfect party filler: each challenge takes exactly sixty seconds, needs supplies you probably already own, and produces the kind of silly, watchable chaos that gets the whole room laughing. At Christmas, a set of these games can carry an entire party with almost no planning.

Below are 15 Christmas Minute to Win It challenges, each with supplies, setup, and a clear win condition, plus scoring ideas and a ready-made party plan.

How Minute to Win It Works

Set a visible 60-second timer. Players take turns attempting a challenge, or race head to head when you have duplicate supplies. Award one point per completed challenge, or keep it simple and crown a winner per game. For a party of mixed ages, let kids attempt the easy games and adults tackle the tricky ones — everyone gets a moment in the spotlight.

Before the party, gather the supplies into labeled bags, one per game. That single step turns setup from a scramble into a smooth rotation: pull out a bag, read the card, start the timer.

The 15 Games

1. Jingle Bell Shake

Supplies: an empty tissue box, a belt, and 10 jingle bells. Strap the box to the player’s waist with the opening out, drop the bells in, and start the timer. No hands allowed — players shake, jump, and wiggle until every bell is out. Win: all bells out before 60 seconds.

2. Candy Cane Hook

Supplies: a pile of candy canes and a bowl. The player holds one candy cane in their mouth and uses its hook to pick up other candy canes and drop them in the bowl. Win: most candy canes in the bowl when time runs out.

3. Christmas Cup Stack

Supplies: 15 red plastic cups. Players build a pyramid (5-4-3-2-1) and then collapse it back into a single stack. Win: pyramid built and restacked within the minute.

4. Snowball Scoop

Supplies: cotton balls, a spoon, and two bowls. Players transfer cotton-ball “snowballs” from one bowl to another using only the spoon. Win: most snowballs moved.

5. Ornament Balance

Supplies: a spoon and a shatterproof ornament. Players walk a short course balancing the ornament on the spoon. Win: most completed laps without dropping it.

6. Gift Wrap Relay

Supplies: a small box, wrapping paper, tape, and scissors per team. Teams take turns wrapping — each player wraps for 15 seconds, then passes the box on. Win: neatest fully wrapped box at the end of the minute.

7. Marshmallow Stack

Supplies: a plate of large marshmallows and toothpicks. Players build the tallest freestanding marshmallow tower. Win: tallest tower still standing at 60 seconds.

8. Reindeer Antlers

Supplies: balloons and a pair of tights per team. One player wears the tights on their head while teammates stuff balloons into the legs to make antlers. Win: most balloons in place, or the funniest reindeer — let the crowd vote.

9. Snowball Toss

Supplies: soft indoor snowballs or crumpled paper, and a bucket. Players stand behind a line and toss snowballs into the bucket. Win: most snowballs in the bucket.

10. Cookie Face

Supplies: a small cookie per player. Place the cookie on the player’s forehead; using only facial muscles, they must move it to their mouth. Win: cookie eaten before the timer ends.

11. Christmas Card House

Supplies: 10 old Christmas cards per team. Teams build the tallest card house they can. Win: tallest house still standing at the buzzer.

12. Wreath Ring Toss

Supplies: a small wreath or ring, and a cone or bottle as the target. Players toss rings onto the target from a marked line. Win: most rings landed.

13. Bow Drop

Supplies: adhesive gift bows and a bucket. Players stand on a chair and drop bows, one at a time, into the bucket below. Win: most bows in the bucket.

14. Jingle Bell Spoon Dash

Supplies: a spoon and a jingle bell per player. Players carry the bell on the spoon around a short course. Drop it, and you restart from the beginning. Win: most laps completed.

15. Snowman Wrap

Supplies: a roll of toilet paper per team. Teams race to wrap one member head to toe like a snowman, then add a hat and scarf. Win: most complete snowman when the timer rings.

Party Plan: Running the Games

For a family party, pick 6 to 8 games and play them one after another, with a short break for snacks halfway. For a classroom, set up 5 stations and rotate small groups every few minutes. For an office party, run games head to head between departments and keep a leaderboard on a whiteboard — rivalry does wonderful things for participation.

Keep score simply: one point per game won, and a small prize for the overall champion. A candy cane bundle, a silly paper crown, or first pick from the dessert table all work. The real prize, as always, is the stories people will retell.

Safety and Setup Notes

Use shatterproof ornaments only, keep floors clear for the balance and dash games, and supervise the chair-based bow drop with adults nearby. For very young kids, drop the timer and let them play until they succeed — the goal is laughter, not pressure.
