Halloween Candy Corn Relay Game Printable (Rules Card + Score Sheet)
Every Halloween party needs one game that gets people moving, laughing, and slightly competitive — and a candy corn relay does all three with about five dollars’ worth of supplies. Players race to move candy corn from one bowl to another using only a spoon (or, for maximum chaos, a straw), and the whole thing takes ten minutes. Below is the complete printable kit: the rules card, the score sheet, and the variations that make it work for kids, teens, and adults who take party games very seriously.
Print this page and you’ve got everything you need. And if you’d like the designed version — a matching rules card and score sheet that actually look like Halloween — for the full designed bundle with matching scorecards and award tags, grab it in our Etsy shop: fukroo.etsy.com.
What You Need

- Candy corn — one large bag covers a whole party. You’ll use about a cup per team.
- Bowls — two per team: one full bowl at the start line, one empty bowl at the finish line.
- Spoons — one per player. Tablespoons are easy mode; teaspoons are hard mode.
- A timer — your phone, set to 60 seconds per round.
- Printed copies of the rules card and score sheet below — one rules card per team table, one score sheet for the host.
- Optional chaos upgrades: straws (carry candy corn by suction — much harder), oven mitts (worn while carrying the spoon), or blindfolds for the final round.
The Rules Card (Print One Per Team)
CANDY CORN RELAY — OFFICIAL RULES
- Split into teams of 3–5 players. Each team gets a full bowl of candy corn, an empty bowl, and one spoon per player.
- Place the full bowl at the start line and the empty bowl about 10–15 feet away at the finish line.
- On “GO,” the first player scoops candy corn onto their spoon, carries it to the finish bowl, drops it in, and runs back to tag the next player.
- One piece of candy corn per trip. Scooping a heaping spoonful is cheating, and everyone will call it out.
- If you drop your candy corn, you must stop, pick it up, and keep going — no scooping a fresh piece.
- The spoon must be held in one hand. No steadying it with the other hand, no carrying the bowl.
- Each round lasts 60 seconds. When time is up, count the candy corn in each team’s finish bowl. Most pieces wins the round.
- Play best of 3 rounds. The team with the most round wins takes the game.

Variations That Keep It Fresh
For Kids (Ages 5–10)
Shorten the distance to about 6 feet, allow two pieces of candy corn per trip, and skip the timer — first team to move 20 pieces wins. Kids this age care more about the running than the counting, so keep rounds short and hand out candy corn “participation prizes” (which they will eat immediately).
For Teens and Adults
This is where the chaos upgrades earn their keep. Round 1: normal spoons. Round 2: teaspoons. Round 3: straws only — players must carry each piece by suction, and if it falls, they start that trip over. I’ve watched grown adults get genuinely furious at a straw. It’s wonderful.
The Oven Mitt Final
For the championship round, every player wears an oven mitt on their spoon hand. It’s absurd, it’s hilarious, and it levels the playing field between the coordinated and the clumsy. Crowd favorite at every party I’ve run this at.
Classroom or Office Version
No running needed: players sit in a line and pass candy corn down the row spoon-to-spoon, like a bucket brigade. Drop it and it goes back to the start of the line. Works in a conference room, works in a classroom, and nobody spills anything on the carpet.
Hosting Tips
- Count before the party, not during. Pre-measure one cup of candy corn per team into zip bags. Counting mid-game while kids scream is nobody’s idea of fun.
- Use plastic bowls. Someone will knock a bowl over. It’s not a question of if.
- Appoint a judge per team for the adult rounds — someone to watch for double-scooping and hand-steadying. Give the judges whistles if you want maximum drama.
- Have a tiebreaker ready: one player per tied team, one piece of candy corn, longest distance carried on a spoon without dropping. Sudden death. The crowd goes wild.
- Save the dropped pieces. At the end, let the losing team eat their spilled candy corn off the (clean) table as a consolation. Or don’t — I’m not your party planner.
Prizes
Keep it simple: the winning team splits a bag of full-size candy bars, or each winner gets a silly certificate. Honestly, at most parties I’ve hosted, the real prize is the right to chant “candy corn champions” at the losing team for the rest of the night. Print the score sheet, run three rounds, and you’ve filled fifteen minutes of your party with the loudest game of the evening.
