Halloween Charades Printable: 42 Prompts for Parties
Why Halloween Charades Wins Every Party
Charades is the one party game that works for every age, every group size, and every level of Halloween spirit. No one needs to be clever with words because nobody is allowed to use them. This Halloween charades printable gives you 42 original prompts sorted into Easy, Medium, and Hard, so little kids and competitive adults can all play on the same night. Print this page, cut the prompts into cards, grab a timer, and your party has its centerpiece.

How to Play: The Acting Rules
Charades is simple, but strict rules make it fun. Read these out loud before the first round:
- No talking, no sounds, no mouthing words. The actor must stay completely silent, including coughs and giggles that give hints away.
- Gestures only. Act out the prompt with your whole body. Pointing at objects in the room counts as a clue only if it matches the prompt.
- No props. The actor may not pick up anything or use a phone. Costume pieces already worn are fine.
- Standard signals are allowed: hold up fingers for the number of words, tug your ear for “sounds like,” wave your hand for “close,” and cross your arms for “give up.”
- Your team guesses out loud. Anyone on the actor’s team can shout guesses. The other team stays quiet until the round ends.
- Sixty seconds per turn. Use a phone timer. When time runs out, the turn is over, guessed or not.
- Skip rule: each team may skip one hard card per game with no penalty. Use it wisely.
Team Setup and Scoring
Split your guests into two even teams. Each team picks an actor for every round and rotates so everyone gets a turn in the spotlight. Shy players can pair up and act together.
Quick Casual Scoring
Easy prompts are worth 1 point, Medium worth 2, Hard worth 3. A correct guess earns the points. Play for fifteen minutes or until one team reaches 20 points. This version is perfect when guests are arriving and leaving at different times.
Tournament Scoring
Each team gets five turns per half, two halves total. Bonus point if a team guesses a Hard prompt in under 20 seconds. A stolen point goes to the opposing team if they guess correctly right after the timer runs out. Highest total after two halves wins and gets to pick the movie for the rest of the night.

How to Turn the List Into Printable Cards
The page you are reading is the printable. Here is the fastest way to make it game-ready:
- Print this page. Card stock makes the cards last all night, but regular paper works too.
- Cut each prompt into its own card. A paper trimmer is fastest, but scissors are fine.
- Sort the cards into three piles: Easy, Medium, Hard. Keep each pile in a separate bowl or hat.
- Label the bowls with sticky notes so players can see the difficulty they are drawing from.
- For kid-only parties, play with just the Easy and Medium bowls and save Hard for the adults.
Timer Tips That Keep the Energy Up
- Use a phone timer with a loud alarm so the whole room hears when time is up.
- Give the actor five seconds to read the card silently before the timer starts.
- For kids under eight, stretch the timer to ninety seconds so no one feels rushed.
- Appoint one person as the timekeeper so the actor never has to watch the clock.
- Play spooky background music at low volume. It hides nervous giggles and sets the mood.
Tip: the funniest rounds are never the ones guessed fastest. Cheer for the terrible acting just as much as the brilliant guesses.
