Halloween Picture Dominoes Printable Game: Match the Monsters
Match the Monsters, Empty Your Hand
Dominoes is one of those games everyone thinks they know — until you take away the dots and replace them with pictures. Halloween picture dominoes works exactly like the classic game, except you match a pumpkin to a pumpkin, a ghost to a ghost, and a bat to a bat. No counting, no adding, no numbers at all. That makes it perfect for younger kids, and it makes it a genuinely different game for adults who’ve played regular dominoes a thousand times.
The game is quiet, it’s portable, and it fits on a kitchen table. Print the tiles, cut them out, and you’ve got a game you can play at a party, in a classroom, or on a rainy afternoon. And because the tiles are pictures, kids who can’t read yet can play on equal footing with everyone else.
What You Need
You’ll need the tile list below, printed on cardstock if you can — regular paper works, but cardstock tiles last longer and are easier to shuffle. Cut out the 28 tiles, and if you want them to survive more than one party, laminate them or glue them onto thin cardboard. You’ll also need a flat table and, for scoring, a pen and a piece of paper.
The pictures on each tile are simple: pumpkin, ghost, bat, witch hat, spider, black cat, skeleton, and candy corn. Each tile has two pictures, and each picture appears on multiple tiles — that’s what makes matching possible. If you’re drawing the tiles by hand instead of printing, keep the drawings simple: a circle with a face is a pumpkin, a wavy blob is a ghost, and a black M-shape with wings is a bat. Nobody’s judging the art.

The 28 Tiles
Here are all 28 tiles, written out so you can make the set. Each line is one tile, with two pictures:

28. Spider — Black Cat
For a shorter game with younger kids, use just the first 15 tiles. For the full game, use all 28. If you want an even bigger set, add the remaining pairs (Spider — Skeleton, Spider — Candy Corn, Black Cat — Black Cat, and so on) until you have a tile for every combination.
How to Play
Shuffle the tiles face down and deal 7 to each player (for 2 players, deal 10 each). Put the remaining tiles in a draw pile. Place one tile face up in the center to start. Players take turns placing a tile at either end of the line, matching one of its pictures to the picture on the open end. If you can’t play, draw a tile from the pile; if the pile is empty and you still can’t play, pass your turn.
The first player to play all their tiles wins the round. If the game blocks — nobody can play and the pile is empty — the player with the fewest tiles left wins. For scoring across rounds, the winner scores one point per tile left in each opponent’s hand. Play to 50 points for a full game, or just play single rounds for a quick party game.

Ways to Change It Up
For a classroom, deal fewer tiles and play in pairs, with partners helping each other find matches — it’s a matching game and a teamwork exercise at once. For a party, play “speed dominoes”: no turns, everyone plays as fast as they can onto a shared line, and the first to empty their hand wins. It’s chaotic, it’s loud, and it works best with the smaller 15-tile set.
You can also add a twist: the “candy corn rule” — any tile with candy corn on it can be played on any open end, once per round, like a wild card. It speeds up blocked games and gives the player holding the candy corn tiles a real advantage. Or play “picture bingo dominoes”: the first player to play all of one picture (all their pumpkin tiles, for example) gets a bonus 5 points.
