A pumpkin painting party is my favorite kind of Halloween gathering. No sharp tools, no messy carving guts on the kitchen floor, and no age limit on who can join in. Kids paint, grown-ups paint, and everyone leaves with a pumpkin they are actually proud of. If you have been looking for a Halloween party…
A ghost hunt is my favorite kind of Halloween party game because it works for almost any age, it costs next to nothing, and it gets everyone moving. You hide a set of paper ghosts around the house or yard, hand each hunter a checklist, and let the searching begin. No screens, no fancy props,…
Counting practice gets a whole lot more fun when it looks like Halloween. This pumpkin seed counting game turns a simple pile of seeds, a pair of dice, and a cheerful pumpkin mat into a party game kids actually want to play again. I have used versions of it at classroom parties and family gatherings,…
Some Halloween games need supplies, setup, and a whole afternoon of prep. A witch cackle contest needs none of that. You need a room full of people willing to sound ridiculous, one brave judge (or three), and about twenty minutes. I’ve run this at a neighborhood party, and I can tell you straight up: adults…
I love a good riddle game at a Halloween party because it needs no equipment, it works for a whole room at once, and it gives the quiet kids a chance to shine. You read a riddle out loud, everyone thinks for a minute, and then someone gasps when the answer clicks. The twenty riddles…
There is a moment at every Halloween party when the candy bowl gets quiet. The costumes have been admired, the games have been played, and everyone is standing around with a handful of something sweet. That is exactly when you pull out the candy taste test. It takes the candy everyone already loves and turns…
Some Halloween games need a lot of setup, a lot of explaining, and a lot of patience. The pumpkin toss is not one of them. You carve a few pumpkins, cut a mouth opening in each one, and toss bean bags at them. Everyone gets it in about ten seconds, and then the whole yard…
Tic tac toe is the rare game that every single person at your party already knows how to play. No explaining, no rulebook, no “wait, how does this work again?” That’s exactly why a Halloween version of it is such a good party game. Swap the X’s and O’s for pumpkins and ghosts, print a…
I love party games that need zero setup, and it doesn’t get simpler than this one. Grab one big pumpkin, a bathroom scale, and a stack of paper — and you’ve got a guessing game that’ll keep guests talking all night. Guess the Pumpkin Weight works at literally any Halloween gathering: kids’ classroom parties, adult…
Some party games fizzle after one round. The witch broom relay race isn’t one of them. I’ve watched grown adults — people in $80 costumes who swore they were “too tired to play” — sprint across a backyard with a broom between their legs, laughing too hard to steer straight. That’s why I put together…
