The Slowest Race You’ll Ever Cheer For Most party races are about speed. This one is about the exact opposite. In a Halloween zombie walk race, the goal is to shamble, groan, and lurch your way down the course in character — and the winner isn’t just the first zombie across the line. Style counts…
I’ve run pumpkin carving contests at more Halloween parties than I can count, and here’s what I’ve learned: the carving itself is only half the fun. The other half is a contest that feels fair, looks great on the table, and doesn’t end with someone arguing that “my pumpkin was robbed.” That’s exactly what this…
Every Halloween party needs one moment where the whole room is laughing, groaning, and daring each other to take one more bite. A fear factor food challenge does exactly that — and the trick is that nothing on the table is actually gross. It’s all normal, safe, store-bought food with spooky names and blindfolds doing…
A Caramel Apple Station Is the Party Activity That Feeds Itself Here’s my favorite thing about a caramel apple decorating station: it solves two party problems at once. Guests need something to do between games, and everyone needs dessert. Set out a table with apples, toppings, and a few design ideas, and suddenly people are…
Why a Potion Station Steals the Party Out of every Halloween activity I’ve set up, the potion station gets the biggest crowd and the least effort from me. Kids love it because they get to mix things and watch them fizz. Adults love it because it looks amazing in photos. And I love it because…
How Guess the Costume Works Here’s the deal: I’ve run this game at three different Halloween parties now, and it always lands in that sweet spot — easy enough that nobody feels put on the spot, tricky enough that people actually argue about the answers. Nobody has to act anything out, nobody has to sing,…
There is something deeply funny about watching a grown adult, hands behind their back, face-first in a pie tin full of whipped cream. A pumpkin pie eating contest is pure Halloween chaos in the best possible way, and it takes almost no setup. This printable gives you two versions: the hands-free whipped-cream pie heat with…
Why a Pumpkin Seed Spitting Contest Steals the Show I’ll be honest: the first time I ran a pumpkin seed spitting contest at a backyard Halloween party, I expected it to be a five-minute joke. It turned into the main event. Adults who had been politely standing around with cider suddenly lined up behind a…
How Name That Tune Works at a Halloween Party Name That Tune is my favorite low-effort, high-energy party game, because the music does all the work. You play a short clip of a song, players write down the title, and the room either erupts or groans — both reactions are great. No acting, no trivia…
The Candy Debate Your Party Will Actually Settle Every Halloween party eventually hits the same argument: which candy is really the best? Someone swears by peanut butter cups, someone else defends gummy bears to the death, and before long the whole room is involved. A Halloween candy bracket game turns that argument into the night’s…
