Halloween Pictionary Printable: 40 Original Drawing Words
What You Need to Play
Halloween Pictionary is the easiest party game to set up: a drawing pad or whiteboard, markers, a timer, and a stack of word cards. It works for kids, teens, and adults, which makes it perfect for mixed-age Halloween parties, classroom celebrations, and family game nights. All you need is this page — the word lists below double as your printable card deck.

How to Play: Team Setup
Split your guests into two or more teams of two to five players. Give each team a marker and a drawing surface. Teams take turns drawing while their teammates guess. The artist draws one card from the bowl, checks the word secretly, and starts sketching the moment the timer begins.
Every correct guess earns the team a point. If the team cannot guess before time runs out, the word passes to the next team for a steal attempt. Play through a set number of rounds or a fixed stack of cards, and the team with the most points wins.
The Drawing Rules
Keep it fair and funny with these classic rules:
- No letters or numbers in the drawing — not even crossed-out ones.
- No talking by the artist. No mouthing words, no sound effects, no humming.
- No gestures to act out the word — your marker is your only tool.
- Pointing is allowed — you can point to parts of your drawing to direct attention.
- Partial guesses count. If the word is “witch hat” and someone shouts “hat,” confirm it so they keep building toward the full answer.
- Time’s up means pens down. The artist stops drawing the instant the timer ends.
Timer and Scoring Tips
Use 60 seconds per word for adults and 90 seconds for younger players. For big groups, shorten rounds to 45 seconds to keep energy high and prevent bottlenecks. A phone timer works fine, but an hourglass from a board game adds drama.
Score one point per correct guess. Award a bonus point for a correct guess in under 30 seconds, and one bonus point to the stealing team for a successful steal. First team to 10 points wins — or simply play until the bowl is empty.
How Long Does a Game Take?
A full game with two teams usually runs 25 to 35 minutes, making it the perfect filler between dinner and the costume contest. If you have a big party, split into four teams and play a single elimination bracket: the two winning teams face off in a final sudden-death round with only hard cards.

Three Fun Variations
1. Sculpt It With Candy
Replace the marker with a bowl of candy corn, gummy worms, and wrapped chocolates. The artist must build the word out of candy on the table instead of drawing. It is messy, hilarious, and the props are edible afterward.
2. Eyes-Closed Challenge
The artist draws with their eyes closed while the team shouts guidance — no, wait, the team can only shout guesses, not instructions. The resulting scribbles are half the fun, and even easy words become hard.
3. Reverse Pictionary
The whole team draws at once while the artist guesses. Hand every teammate a card with the same word and watch five people sketch a werewolf at the same time while one person tries to decode the chaos.
Printing and Cutting Tips
Print this page on standard printer paper or cardstock — cardstock survives little hands and excited game nights much better. Cut each word into its own slip, fold once, and drop the slips into a bowl or plastic pumpkin. Keep easy and hard cards in two separate bowls so the host can deal the right difficulty to the right group. One printed set covers a party of up to 20 players.
House rule from our party tests: the artist may hum nothing, but the team may argue loudly. Half the laughter at a Halloween party comes from the arguing.
